Located in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea, Ok Tedi Mine is the longest running open-pit copper, gold and silver mine in Papua New Guinea.
Ore is mined and processed at an onsite flotation processing plant capable of treating up to 24 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa). The plant currently recovers copper, gold and silver into a saleable concentrate. The primary ore is crushed and ground using Semi-Autogenous Grinding and Ball mills to a final grain size of approximately 180 microns. The finely ground material is treated in two mineral floatation circuits to extract the copper, gold and silver as a copper concentrate. A portion of gold is also separately captured utilising a gravity gold circuit.
Our Partnership
International Mill Relines has serviced the Ok Tedi operation for several years with varying services, including providing supervision and training support for their mill reline requirements and specialised tooling for the site.
Implementation
IMR has worked closely with OTML management to assist with improving and maintaining mill reline safety and efficiency. IMR has delivered many operability recommendations to the site to improve operability outcomes and to minimize risks around areas of the plant.
